Yikes! I can’t believe it
Just look at the date!
If I don’t get these verses written,
 This card is going to be late!

Can’t get too busy to stop
and remember all of you,
To wish you the season’s greetings
and tell this year’s “happenings” … too.

Yes, lots of things to report
More memories …to remember,
Twelve months …. they pass so quickly
And now ….. it is December!

All the way back to last January
We started it … with a party!
Mae’s mom … our “Suggie” … was 90!
 And the family was not tardy!

Her children, grandchildren and the “greats”
All gathered to help her celebrate,
Twenty two of the family came on a Sunday
and had a Ruby Tuesday crab cake!

Suggie survived the celebration
The balloons and all the rest;
With help from that close by family
She gives each day her very best.

My dad … Poppa … is independent ,
Said at 95 he would make a plan
Move to a retirement home in Nashville
If us kids would come give a hand.

His six children showed up Fathers Day,
“stuff” was given “ as needed”… we guessed,
Many things brought back good memories
But seeing family …. was … the best!

He now is in a small apartment
His needs seem to be well met,
When I saw him this October
“sofa sleeping” … was a good bet.

The family here has been very busy
Russ and Janet making trips to TN,
It’s Colin’s last year at Lipscomb,
That gives them football games to see.
Maybe you have seen Vandy play football
And when the TV camera swings to the band
There will be our Colin…
A shinny saxophone in hand.

Janet has good travel connections
Their 25th anniversary was this fall;
They took a European cruise trip
Greece, Italy, Spain… some ports of call.

The Cox family is also real busy
Helping Cindi with faux painting is some fun;
That is the only work I’ve done this year
Guess my retirement is has really begun.

Her boys are staying also busy
Brent with work and college studies;
Ryan, a High school junior , loves to sing,
… and hang out with his buddies.

It was great to see Keith’s family
Thanksgiving found them at his door;
Keith’s remodeling did not scare them
And we would love to see them more.

That’s the way it is with family,
And it has been that kind of year.
Cindy Elia has spent much time in GA
And we are glad to have her here.

Her beach house she rents at Gulf Shores
That was a site for our work and play;
So we spent some time there this year.
And got it ready to … “make it pay”.

To see family whatever the occasion
Makes us feel just like a...” winner”
And on a trip to see Jenny in St Augustine
We found wonderful food for our dinner.

We even met Mae’s cousin “Sam”,
When cousin Robbie had us to eat,
More than 50 years for that reunion
And a bit more “family” to greet.

So to friends and family everywhere
Even if you have not seen us in a long time
We wish you Merry Christmas …
And a happy … Two thousand and …Nine!
